Does not accept interviews . At least for now. "It's not the time yet," he says as he walks along the ancient Via Majore as soon as he leaves the court in Nuoro where he has returned to being a lawyer.
Andrea Soddu has no longer been mayor of Nuoro for 24 hours , but the day after his resignation and the City Council's vote against with 13 no and 11 in favour, he decided to write a long letter to the citizens and entrust it to his social profile. A thank you accompanied by the image of the tricolor sash abandoned on the empty table that saw him govern the capital of Barbagia for nine years.
«Last night the Nuoro city council rejected the budget forecast and the Region will appoint a commissioner until the 2025 elections . The visions of the future, the sharing of values, the honor and burden of representing one's community, the willingness to listen to the needs of citizens, the search for solutions to problems, personal disinterest, putting the public good before private good, the sense of solidarity between us and between our communities, are just some of the peculiar characteristics of this great public mission that one takes on when one takes on the prestigious role of first citizen. I end my mandate in the awareness that I have never held back, that I have given my all , that I have always tried to fight thoughtfully and wisely to build a better city, that I have tried to act as a good family man towards his community. . I have always tried to work towards the realization of a project and within a prospective vision based on improving the quality of life and sowing opportunities. I hope I have carried out this mission with honor. A heartfelt thank you to the councilors who have accompanied me in these nine long years, whose support, commitment, work and collaboration have been invaluable. And the city councilors, especially those who strongly believed in our project. I thank all my staff, the City leaders and employees who have contributed to the efficient functioning of this administration. Special thanks also go to all the employees and collaborators of the Municipality's subsidiaries. With them also the workers of the Lavoras construction sites, the civil service volunteers and all the civil protection associations. I thank all the city associations and institutions with which we have established an excellent spirit of collaboration. I thank all the Mayors of Sardinia for welcoming me with affection and making me feel part of an extraordinary political community. Finally, above all I thank my city, the towns and citizens of Nuoro, in the most precious baggage that I will carry with me there are you. Now I will proudly return to my work as a lawyer, to my family, to my passions. Thanks for everything".
