The driver who died late yesterday evening while driving his car on Via Scano was called Gianfranco Pazzola, 64 years old, originally from Sassari but resident in Cagliari.
He had just entered the road, heading towards Via della Pineta, when the SUV skidded and ended up crashing into one of the trees in the central reservation.
Despite desperate resuscitation attempts by the 118 emergency medical service, which quickly arrived on the scene with two ambulances, there was nothing that could be done: Pazzola died around 10:00 PM in front of the Church of Christ the King. As soon as they learned what had happened, a group of about ten relatives rushed to the scene of the accident, hoping that the ambulances could save his life. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Local police officers remained on the scene until after midnight, conducting legal investigations and managing traffic.
