Following the results of the monitoring carried out by the Department of Transport, "having detected the delays and cancellations of some flights operated by Aeroitalia under the territorial continuity regime and the consequent inconveniences reported to the Public Relations Office of the Sardinia Region", Councillor Barbara Manca has convened the air transport monitoring committee, scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, Thursday 28 May.
"The meeting will be an opportunity to formally remind the company to fully comply with the obligations set forth in the service agreement signed with the Sardinia Region as part of the public service obligations (OSP)," the Region stated in a statement.
"It is essential to clearly remember that territorial continuity is not simply a commercial air transport service, but a truly essential public service, designed to guarantee residents and similar categories the certainty of travel to and from Sardinia," states Councilor Manca. "A certainty that, in some cases recorded in recent weeks, has unfortunately been lacking, creating inconvenience and difficulties for passengers."
The convening of the monitoring committee follows numerous discussions already initiated by the department with the airline . "The Region will continue to monitor with the utmost vigilance to ensure that the Sardinians' right to mobility is fully protected and that the territorial continuity service effectively meets the public purposes for which it was created," the councilor concludes.
