A U-turn to exit a hypermarket, followed by a collision: tragedy narrowly avoided in Quartu.

A near-tragedy occurred on the Quartu stretch of Viale Marconi. Initial reports suggest that yesterday evening, the driver of a black Golf exiting the hypermarket attempted a U-turn to proceed toward Quartu, colliding with a small car traveling toward Cagliari. The car overturned, crashing into the side guardrail, damaging it.

Luckily, the drivers of both cars were not seriously injured, but firefighters had to intervene to extract the driver of the overturned car from the wreckage.

Traffic was severely slowed until the surveys were completed and the cars were towed away. Just yesterday, both the municipality and local businesses expressed serious concerns about the delays in safety work on that stretch of road. A large roundabout is planned near the Carrefour, which will allow for easier entry and exit from the hypermarkets as well as the ability to make U-turns. However, while waiting for work that has been delayed for three years, reckless drivers are crossing the continuous road line rather than travel a few meters to make a U-turn at the Is Pontis Paris roundabout.

The same thing happens in front of the fire brigade, where to enter the supermarket people commit the reckless act of cutting across the continuous line when coming from the direction of Quartu, putting at risk the lives of those travelling in their lane when arriving from Cagliari.
