The tragic head-on collision occurred on the eve of Ferragosto (August 15), on the provincial road 15 between Castelsardo and Tergu, shortly after 5:00 PM, when the 70-year-old, riding his Honda Africa Twin motorcycle , crashed into a Fiat Punto driven by a 22-year-old man, also from Castelsardo . The dentist died instantly. The young man suffered minor injuries.
According to an initial reconstruction of the accident, the car crossed into the opposite lane during a reckless overtaking maneuver . The violent impact left no escape for the motorcyclist, who was thrown from his bike and landed on the asphalt . The 118 ambulance, firefighters, the Areus air rescue service, and the Carabinieri from Valledoria responded to the scene, assisted by their colleagues from Castelsardo.
The magistrate ordered the seizure of the body and the vehicles involved in the accident . The mayor of Castelsardo, Maria Lucia Tirotto, also expressed her condolences on behalf of the entire municipal administration and all citizens. "We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. We join them in this moment of immense grief."
