A "widespread" New Year's Eve celebration in Cagliari, with thousands in the square enjoying music and entertainment.
The city welcomed the arrival of 2026 with concerts by Giusy Ferreri and Miss Keta. Then, partying until the early hours at the Bastione.Video di Mauro Madeddu
Same formula, same emotions for Cagliari's New Year's Eve celebrations.
Kisses, hugs, and lots of music in the squares chosen by the City to celebrate the arrival of 2026.
Under the rain, which fortunately allowed for more than a few breaks throughout the night, thousands of Cagliari residents celebrated New Year's Eve with Giusy Ferreri's main concert in Piazza Yenne (the line stretched from the stage under the statue of Carlo Felice to the intersection with Via Mameli), followed by music in Piazza San Giacomo, at the Bastione di Santa Croce (which only came to life shortly before midnight, after the restaurants had left), and on the Umberto I terrace of the Bastione di Saint Remy, where the party (at least two thousand people in attendance) continued until late at night.
For many, the administration's decision to confirm the widespread New Year's Eve celebration has once again been rewarded.
"It's a formula we like," say Sara Maestri and Valentina Pilia (from Sarroch). "We came mainly for Myss Keta," the masked rapper who closed the concert in Piazza Yenne , "then we decided to go to the party at the Bastione to dance."
Others, however, saw a subdued New Year's Eve. "We saw the images from Sassari," where the star was Max Pezzali (who cost almost a million euros), says Vittorio Zani. "Cagliari wasn't the same," he adds.
There was also a huge celebration at the Bastione, with thousands of people in attendance, including City Council President Marco Benucci, who extended his best wishes to the city.
