A house destroyed by fire. But beneath the ashes, solidarity smolders. A wave that could lead to the resurrection of the Paglietti family's story, starting with the home burned to the ground by the fire that destroyed San Gregorio last Thursday.

A fundraiser was launched on the GoFundme platform. The goal was €20,000. In less than 18 hours, the €17,000 goal was reached.

Here is the text that accompanies the collection.

On July 25th our lives were turned upside down by a nightmare.

A terrible fire broke out in the San Gregorio area and spread with unprecedented fury. After engulfing the entire mountain, razing the beautiful surrounding forest, filled with cork oaks, the flames hurled themselves at our home: our family home where my grandfather, my mother, and my aunt lived with her two daughters. In just a few hours, decades of sacrifice, lifelong memories, and our daily lives were engulfed by the fire and turned to ash.

Fortunately, we're all safe, and that's the most important thing. But the emotional and financial impact of seeing your home destroyed and finding yourself left with nothing is indescribable.

The surrounding landscape looks like the set of an apocalyptic film.

We're a very large family with many issues to manage. My grandfather is a retired freelancer, and dealing with the cleanup, safety measures, and reconstruction costs alone is a burden we can't bear. For this reason, we've decided to overcome our embarrassment and ask for help from anyone who's able or willing to lend us a hand.

How the funds will be used:

We ask for your support with maximum transparency. Every single euro raised will be donated exclusively to:

Securing and remediation: removing debris and cleaning the area affected by the fire.

Reconstruction work: purchasing essential materials for rebuilding the walls and roof.

Restoration of essential services: redoing the electrical and plumbing systems to make the house habitable again.
