A hike among friends turned into an emergency, but the quick thinking of one of the participants saved a life. It happened on September 13th in the Cala Biriala area, in the Baunei area , while returning from a day out. One of the hikers suffered a sudden illness that later turned out to be cardiac arrest .
Davide Di Felice, a technician from the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps and citizen of Oristano , intervened immediately, starting cardiopulmonary resuscitation and coordinating the activation of the single emergency number 112. This timely intervention allowed the arrival of the AREUS HEMS helicopter rescue team, departing from the Olbia base, which provided first aid and transferred the patient to the hospital.
For this gesture, the Municipality of Oristano awarded Di Felice a commendation, presented during a ceremony at Palazzo Campus Colonna in the presence of Mayor Massimiliano Sanna and representatives of the Alpine Rescue team. In the certificate, signed by the mayor, the administration expresses "deep gratitude and sincere recognition" for an intervention characterized by "courage, a sense of responsibility, and a genuine spirit of solidarity." This recognition goes beyond the individual incident and also emphasizes the importance of preparation and knowledge of lifesaving maneuvers, which are crucial even outside of rescue scenarios.
