Perhaps a short circuit – the most likely hypothesis – or a stove left on could have triggered the tragic fire that broke out in an apartment in Palau , costing the life of Giorgio Menna, a 38-year-old worker.

The man apparently died from the fumes , while his minor children, aged 9 and 12, managed to escape from the house.

After the alarm was raised around 2:00 PM, two firefighter teams from Arzachena and Santa Teresa Gallura responded to the scene— on Via Giuseppe Dessì, in the Barrabisa district —along with emergency personnel from 118, the Forestry Corps, the Carabinieri, and the police.

When emergency services arrived, the two children were taken to the Olbia hospital for checkups. There was nothing that could be done for the 38-year-old. From what we understand, he was resting when the fire broke out.

His body was recovered when firefighters extinguished the flames that engulfed the apartment. Law enforcement is investigating the incident. After the blaze , forensic police officers also arrived at the apartment to conduct an inspection.
