«The local health authority has informed us that a person in our area may have had an onset of the Dengue virus . It is therefore necessary to strengthen the ability of the community and individuals to reduce the outbreaks of larval development of the vector, i.e. mosquitoes belonging to the "Aedes" genus , and proceed with the adoption of the necessary individual prevention measures. The current situation does not cause concern, but it is always good to keep our guard up."

Thus the mayor of Olbia Settimo Nizzi , following an information note from the Gallura ASL to communicate the strengthening of prevention and surveillance measures in response to the circulation of the Dengue virus.

Nizzi therefore recommends citizens to "implement all appropriate prevention initiatives aimed at the general population and the categories of subjects most exposed".

Specifically, explains the Municipality, the measures that citizens can adopt to protect themselves from mosquito bites are:

  • use insecticides in private outdoor areas and for domestic use inside homes;
  • use insecticides and skin repellents;
  • outdoors, wear light-colored clothing that covers most of the body;
  • use mosquito nets on windows, doors and beds;
  • vaporize spray for domestic use, in the case of the presence of mosquitoes indoors.
