The desperate screams of a 12-year-old girl who lives in a nearby house in the middle of the street, flames engulfing an apartment, and a life in need of saving. This is the scenario Alessandro Deidda and Ligita Jasudaite, volunteers with the Orsa Civil Protection Association, facedon Saturday afternoon when a fire broke out on Via Trento in Assemini, near the train station . They didn't think twice: they rushed into the home and managed to save Daniel Loddo, who is now hospitalized at Brotzu Hospital with second- and third-degree burns to his chest, but his condition is not life-threatening.

Assemini, casa a fuoco: salvato un uomo

An act of exceptional courage, with remarkable quick reflexes. The two volunteers heard the screams of a little girl, drawn by the flames in the house a few steps away, and immediately understood the situation . Daniel Loddo had been hit by the explosion, which originated from his kitchen stove: he fell to the floor, unconscious. Alessandro and Ligita's experience as volunteers allowed them to manage the situation optimally, managing to save Loddo.

"For a human being, I think there is no better gesture than saving a human life," praised the mayor of Assemini, Mario Puddu. " This morning I paid my initial respects and expressed my thanks to Alessandro at the Orsa Civil Protection headquarters, but it is our administration's intention to commend Alessandro and Ligita for their gesture and courage . I was also reassured about Daniel's health, which is not in danger." A story with a happy ending, where the courage of the two volunteers and the little girl was crucial in completing the rescue.
