The Covid pandemic, the restrictions and, from next January 20, the obligation to present the Green Pass are multiplying the abusive activities of hairdressers, barbers, beauticians and any other personal care service, even in Sardinia.

The alarm comes from Confartigianato, according to which the regional welfare sector, which on the island has 3,691 companies, of which 3094 are artisans (84% of the total), with about 7,500 employees, is increasingly under attack by illegal immigrants.

The latest available estimates re-elaborated by the Confartigianato Research Office, based on Istat data of September 2021, indicate in fact that in the sector of personal services and artistic and entertainment activities, which includes hairdressers and aesthetic institutes, there is a high incidence of the undeclared, with a rate of work irregularities equal to 27.6% of the registered activities, which for Sardinia means about 1,800 work units totally unknown to the State. This share - underlines Confartigianato - is over twelve percentage points (+ 12.7%) higher than the 14.9% recorded for the average of economic activities.

"And it is especially in this period that in the personal care sector there is an alarm for the proliferation of illegal and irregular who offer itinerant and home services for hair cutting, manicures and beauty treatments", highlights the association.

"We agree with the will behind the provision, to keep the spread of infections and the pressure on hospitals under control as well as to make the operators of the wellness sector work safely and to protect customers - underlines the president of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna, Maria Amelia Lai - when it comes to work, however, attention is also required to control the phenomenon of illegal activity which also puts people's health at risk. greater health, psychological and economic fragility, which 'illegal work' takes hold due to the general uncertainty that makes it difficult to enforce the rules ".
