There are 243 typical products in the official list of traditional Sardinian agri-food products drawn up by the Ministry of Agricultural Policies.

The latest new entry is Coccoi prena , the bread stuffed with potatoes, cheese and mint from Ogliastra.

An ancient and “poor” dish, made with the ingredients of the island's agro-pastoral economy, but capable of providing a rich caloric intake and the nutritional values required by a complete diet.

«Coccoi Prena has all the characteristics to be included in a basket full of local specialties from Ogliastra», explains Attilio Usai, president of Cna Ogliastra . «A dish that is at least as old as culurgionis, which now represents an opportunity for growth for companies operating in the sector. We wish this specialty the same luck as the culurgionis awarded the highest European recognition that has made Ogliastra famous also for its agri-food heritage».

Salvatore Marci di Cardedu was the first producer to commercialize the product : «We sell it both fresh and cooked but also frozen», he says. Adding: «For decades we have understood that this local specialty had enormous potential also because it is suitable for the needs of modern life: it can also be easily eaten cold and days after preparation».
