Sardinia towards Unesco, collaboration agreement with the Sardinia Foundation

The agreement that formalizes the collaboration between the association Sardinia towards Unesco and the Foundation of Sardinia was signed this morning at the headquarters of the Sardinia Foundation in Cagliari . An agreement that arises from the start of the procedure for requesting the registration of the monuments of the Nuragic civilization in the Unesco World Heritage List and which has as its main objective the creation of the candidacy dossier .
"This is the beginning of a journey that we will take together and which represents an important enrichment in terms of an active and collaborative contribution towards the goal that led us in a short time to join the Unesco Tentative list and which now, together, will see us protagonists of an extraordinary planning and dissemination plan of initiatives linked to the enhancement of the ancient Sardinian civilization, an extraordinary brand of our island ", explained the President of the Sardinia towards Unesco Association, Pierpaolo Vargiu .
According to Vargiu "the choice to invest in the deep identity that comes from the historical roots of Sardinia and its ancient civilization, as well as representing a milestone of Sardinian culture, has an inestimable value also in economic terms and can finally represent the keystone for a new model of sustainable development capable of changing the future of Sardinia ".
"The Foundation of Sardinia has among its objectives the promotion of the economic and social development of Sardinia and the enhancement of our archaeological heritage represents an opportunity for sustainable and lasting growth - said the president of the Foundation of Sardinia, Antonello Cabras - For this we have chosen to support the initiative of the Association Sardinia towards Unesco, not only with a financial contribution but also with the participation in the planning and execution phase of the project ".
THE PATH - After the inclusion of the Monuments of the Nuragic civilization in the Tentative list, the list in which the States insert the goods they consider to be of exceptional universal value, which took place last November, we are therefore ready to proceed with the drafting of the Dossier of Candidature , whose drafting will be entrusted to a subject with proven competence and professionalism, identified by the Foundation and the Association.
Together with the dossier, a Management Plan will also be created, necessary to ensure the protection of the archaeological areas involved and their use. The enhancement of Sardinian heritage at an international level, the primary objective of the project, goes hand in hand with support for the territories involved, and in general for the entire region, in identifying new opportunities and new models of sustainable economic development. .
The Sardinian municipalities, the Region of Sardinia, the Regional Council of Sardinia (which until May 22 hosts the exhibition "Io apro Unesco "), the Universities of Sardinia, the world of education, economics and associations.
