The 2021 report (difference between income and expenses for the year, including the residuals of previous years) was approved during the last session of the Regional Council, which for the first time since the transition to harmonized accounting records an administrative surplus of approximately 78 million of Euro.

The overall improvement of approximately 279 million compared to the 2020 deficit (equal to approximately 201 million, now covered), made it possible to fully settle the negative result inherited from the management of past years and remained standing in the previous report, reaching cancellation of the debt in advance of the possibility that the Region had to write off it over several years.

The control action on the accounts now makes it possible to have an amount of resources available to be reprogrammed in 2022 equal, in fact, to 78 million , which combined with the financing lines already obtained - Pnrr, European funds of different nature, resources deriving from the dispute revenue - will contribute to the development process of Sardinia started at the beginning of the Legislature.

"Thanks to careful management of the budget and an accurate administration policy, Sardinia is confirmed as a virtuous region, capable of directing spending and guaranteeing public finances, essential for ensuring the economic development of Sardinia without any economic constraints -financial ", the comment of the President of the Region Christian Solinas , who highlighted the positive elements contained in the report and the important action taken during the Legislature to have available those resources necessary for the development policies of the territories and the maintenance of the system during and after the crisis.

"We are the region of Italy that has invested more of its own resources to support the business world during the pandemic - explained the President - and we have launched a series of regulatory reforms that have also affected the institutional structure in order to contrast bureaucracy and acceleration of investments, in addition to the exceptional result obtained thanks to the signing of the agreement with the government which closed a long-standing affair on revenues, guaranteeing Sardinia the recognition of a figure such as 1 billion and 600 million euros ".

Good financial management and support for businesses and families during the pandemic crisis (and today with the latest approved measures capable of implementing actions to accompany the territories towards recovery), are the distinctive features of the regional government action, which combined with the elimination of debts, it contributes to restoring a positive picture of public accounts, as highlighted by the commissioner for Budget and Planning, Giuseppe Fasolino .
