Lorenzo Musetti is in the semifinals. The verdict of the second quarter-final of the Sardinia Open, the ATP 175 Challenger currently taking place on the clay courts of Tc Cagliari, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 over the Portuguese Nuno Borges, arrives after two hours and ten minutes of play, where we saw everything and its opposite.
In the first set, which lasted 33', Carrarino was nervous and fouled, poorly hit and at the mercy of the wind that swept the Centrale: immediately double break for the 5-0 Borges. At 6-1, 1-0 and serve, all in favor of the Portuguese player, the tennis of the imaginative blue "clicked", and from then on a completely different match was ignited. Musetti has played six consecutive games and after 75 minutes of play everything has to be done again: we go to the decisive set. The Italian flies 4-0, controls his opponent's return (4-2) and closes easily.
Lorenzo Musetti reads the match in the simplest and most true way: "In the first set I was too passive, in the other two I felt in control of the game and commanded more".
As hoped in yesterday's press conference, Musetti sportingly avenges the defeat suffered last month in the ATP 250 at Estoril and looks to the next match: "Tomorrow I need the strength and enthusiasm of the Cagliari public", he declared.
In tomorrow's semi-final, he will meet the Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan, who did not take the field today due to the withdrawal due to injury of the Hungarian Marton Fucsovic.
