"Sardinia is not in Italy". The supergaffe took place on "The Couple", the new entertainment program hosted by Ilary Blasi, broadcast on Canale 5.
The protagonists of the sensational blunder – which immediately went viral on the Internet – were the brothers Danilo and Fabrizio Mileto , contestants from Puglia on the show.
During the episode, one of them "questioned" the other and, when it came to guessing Sardinia colored red on a map, the sentence that caused hilarity came: "It's a region where it's hot, but it's not in Italy...". The first to be surprised and smile was Blasi herself: "But how come it's not in Italy?!" , the presenter contested, incredulous.
But the one on the Island was not the only “epic fail” of the contestants on the show, who were in fact unable to recognize either the portraits of Napoleon or that of Dante Alighieri . And the flurry of reactions that were triggered on social networks was inevitable.
