Transforming Sardinia into the first totally natural and organic island by 2030. This is the goal of the organizing committee that has recently been set up in Ollolai, in the heart of Barbagia.

The association "La Base" through Efisio Arbau gave legs to the project, involving trade associations, environmental and cultural associations, cooperatives, professionals, politicians and individual citizens in this large and ambitious project. The aim is thus to have entire supply chains , not only of food for humans but also for animals, 100% certified and not only natural and / or organic but also 100% sardines.

An incentive, therefore, to the return to production of raw materials as well, responding with a concrete project based on traditional vocations to the great limits that the war in Ukraine on the food supply front is showing in recent months. At the same time an opportunity to rediscover the awareness of healthy, genuine and guaranteed food and respect for the environment.

SARDINIAN DATA - Sardinia is the first region in the Mediterranean where sheep farming is practiced on pasture . Furthermore, the Island - according to Coldiretti data - is in seventh place in the ranking of the Italian organic Regions with about 120 thousand hectares (there are about 2 thousand farms) and is above the European average on the incidence of organic surface on the Utilized Agricultural Area (UAA ) with about 10% compared to an EU average of 8%.

In addition, the regional organic district (Sardinia Bio District) has been recognized by the region for about a year.

"Sardinia must be the world outpost where human life is practiced compatible with the resilience of the planet - explained the promoter of the initiative, Efisio Arbau - We need a working method for the populations who live there, to recover that naturalness which would guarantee the exploitation of the whole regional territory, production of adequate quality and quantity for the resident population and that of tourists who love our land ".
