From 1906 to 1912 the scholar Thomas Ashby made five trips to Sardinia, with the aim of documenting the archaeological sites together with landscapes, architecture, people and popular traditions. Splendid images and travel notes remain of these trips, preserved in the archives of the British School at Rome. Saturday at 18 the University Library of Sassari offers a selection of 82 photographs taken in that period by the English archaeologist and now owned by the British School at Rome.

The exhibition, accompanied by traditional artefacts and fabrics linked to the images, will be open until 18 April.

The event is connected to two meetings on the theme "Thomas Ashby's Sardinia", coordinated by Alba Canu and Giuseppina Manca di Mores, which will also be held in the University Library in Piazza Fiume on 22 March at 5.30 pm and on 29 March, again at 5.30 pm .

The inauguration on Saturday will be attended by Giovanni Fiori, Director of the University Library of Sassari of the Ministry of Culture, Luana Toniolo, Regional Directorate of MIC-Museums of Sardinia, and Giuseppina Manca di Mores, Academy of Fine Arts of Sassari and curator of the exhibition and first event together with Alba Canu. 2023.
