"The remediation of asbestos is a very dear topic to us. For the first time the Region is implementing the largest asbestos elimination plan with 32 million euros allocated for remediation".

This was stated by the governor Christian Solinas, who presented the asbestos remediation plan this morning at Villa Devoto that will be launched on the island starting in 2022.

"Thanks to the participation in a public tender, we are among the 4-5 Regions that have won - explained the president of the Sardinia Region - we have presented an organic plan that primarily provides for the safety of all public buildings. representative, 16 million, is for schools. It was unacceptable for our young people to live with asbestos in Sardinian schools in 2021. We can immediately start this project of protection, decontamination and disposal. The ministry of ecological transition has foreseen, within of the national environmental operational plan 2014-2020, financial resources for a total of 385 million and Sardinia has intercepted about 10% of them ". In particular, 93 interventions were financed "divided between hospital buildings, schools, public buildings, regional bodies and agencies, consortia and companies with public participation".

The Councilor for the Environment Gianni Lampis is also satisfied: "The Region has had a privileged role in the national planning. 35 million euros have been allocated to us and with this first resolution of the council we are planning 32 million. Another three will go ahead to the Universities. and local authorities. Priority was given to hospitals and schools, then we also added other operational branches of the Region. We asked the ministry to also promote the financing of reconstruction, and therefore not only the removal and disposal in landfills. Unfortunately not there was the possibility of being satisfied, therefore the reconstructions will be partly financed by the Region and by the entities concerned ".
