They have thought of everything, even a few "moments" of mourning if the golden eagle of Tepilora ends up "affected" by the immense wind turbines silhouetted like a wall on the horizon of Mont'Albo. The Saras, the one of the black oil smokestacks on the Golfo degli Angeli, now points to the peaks of the Barbagia. He had already tried, to tell the truth. The procedure launched two years ago by the "Moratti company" had stalled between contrary opinions and popular mobilization. The wind now, however, does not blow only on these peaks that surround Bitti, Onanì and Orune. The government, the outgoing one, really did not want to deny the oilmen of Sarroch, with registered office in Milan, the possibility of usurping and defacing the ridges of this land beaten as never before by the "furious wind" of Deleddiana memory.

The blitz of the Transition

With a coordinated and timely blitz, the Ministry of Ecological Transition on October 14th published the warning: whoever wants to oppose it can do so by next November 11th. The path is changed, no longer just an environmental impact assessment, but also an accelerated procedure, that of the NRP. The project maintains its suggestive name: Onanie , like the town of the Mamone enclave, the largest penal colony in the world with its 2,700 hectares of pastures and woods stolen by the state from the local community.

The descent of the Moratti

The wind turbines, the ones that Saras di Moratti, with its Sarda Eolica, 100% of the oil company, would like to place here a stone's throw from Bitti, Onanì and Orune, are six steel towers each as high as a 70-storey skyscraper. . When the wind of Barbagia whips, if the steel curse guts these landscapes forever, they will have fully occupied the airspace of the golden eagle and the Bonelli eagle, only recently returning to soar above the skies of Gennargentu. The Saras project, resurrected by Cingolani & company, does not pose any problems: for each survey it has a solution, as if the contrary opinions of half the scientific world, at the highest international levels, were waste paper, as well as those of the Region and Common a useless pastime.

The wind of the oilmen

Not only do the papers of the oil companies mock those institutional opinions, but they go so far as to support theses that put pen to paper abundantly transcend the liveliest imagination. The approach of the lords of oil, leaning towards the wind of Gennargentu, is consolidated: nothing can stop us, let alone four golden eagles, which, then, now, are at least 50. Not only do they think so, they write it: " for the monitoring of the avifauna there are cases of killing of the golden eagle and Bonelli's eagle beyond the average mortality levels, the temporary interruption of energy production will be provided for ». A "momentary" mourning, to take note of the death and start again with the slot machine of the wind of Sardinia, as if the extra profits of oil were not enough.

Eagles and state incentives

On the one hand, the Sardinian Region finances a plan to repopulate those mountains of golden eagles and Bonelli, on the other Saras, on the other hand, is asking for incentives to decimate them with wind turbines. The approach to the environmental, landscape and economic problem is exhilarating. They say it explicitly: golden eagles can crash, but for the oilmen the sacrifice is worth the wind gain. The technical report leaves no room for doubt: «It is equally true that a part of the areas in which the wind turbines fall, those characterized by low vegetation, may coincide with the trophic areas of the raptor, exposing it to the risk of collision».

The saga of solutions

The saga of "solutions to everything" does not stop with birds of prey. The theme of the landscape, the one that should be more meaningful in the analysis of such a sensitive and characteristic territory, is not addressed, if anything liquidated. The lords of Saras know that the most controversial issue is precisely that of the horizon broken by these blades never seen before in a Sardinian territory, with a height of 210 meters, functional to a wind production of 5.6 megawatts per blade, almost triple those currently used on the island.

Poor lands, give them to us

There are no problems: "Overall the impact is to be considered low for the following reasons: - insertion in an environmental context characterized by an extensive use of the territory, in which the low productivity of the soils, the morphology and the traditional use, which is still rooted, do not allow for profitable agriculture ». As if to say you are poor, the territory does not produce anything, the pastoralism that you still "pursue" is stuff from the Middle Ages. The consequence is obvious: let the multinational oil, which after taking over the coast of Cagliari, now would like to take possession of the peaks of the Barbagia. Also in this case, after the momentary mourning for the golden eagles, there is also alms for Onanì, the country in whose territory the windy Moratti park should fall. They write it without restraint, for future reference: "The wind farm will bring capital to the municipal coffers that can be used for environmental improvement, energy efficiency, dissemination of installations of renewable energy sources and awareness of the citizens on the aforementioned themes ".

Shovels of the future

Those wind turbines, for the lords of oil, are the future for the development of the territory. And they have no shame to tell it: "In this perspective, Sardeolica Srl proposes to design and promote itineraries with environmental sustainability as a guiding thread, combining visits to wind farms managed by the companies of the Saras group by various schools and degree, universities, research centers, companies, etc., for the study of energy production from renewable sources ». The new frontier of tourism places no limits on the imagination: guided tours of the Saras to the wind turbines embedded on the ridges of Bitti, Onanì and Orune.

The double game of Rome

The new bureaucratic countdown that has just started to try to approve this new assault on the heart of the island is the demonstration, if it were still needed, of the confusional state or the doubling of the national government on one of the most delicate and important matches of the future, not only of that area, but of the whole of Sardinia and of all of Italy: the Einstein Telescope, the cyclopean underground interferometer intended to listen and record the jolts of the Universe, the advanced point of that research capable of positioning Nuraghi the most important scientific center in the world. On the one hand, Draghi writes letters of support for the Einstein Telescope project to Lula, without, however, ever allocating real money, and on the other hand, he allows his faithful minister to carry on the oil project to break the cosmic silence forever. of those earthly entrails.

Docet scientists

After all, the greatest scientists in the world, together with the most important research centers, wrote it to Cingolani, who by profession, before working for the arms industry and becoming Minister of Ecological Transition, was a physicist. In the proceedings there is a copious opinion that leaves no margins: those wind turbines are destined to destroy the habitat indispensable for the construction of that underground triangle capable of intercepting the most hidden gravitational waves of the Universe. The opinions are unanimous, from the National Institute of Astrophysics to that of Geophysics and Volcanology, from the University of Cagliari to that of Sassari, passing through the World Research Center of the Gran Sasso Science Institute: "Sardinia and in particular Barbagia are a unique environmental, geological and seismic system in Italy and probably in Europe ».

Future at risk

The offer for the future of the island passes from the wind farms proposed by Saras to the project of the international scientific world: "The possibility of setting up an underground scientific laboratory of global importance constitutes an unrepeatable opportunity, being able to exploit exceptionally favorable natural conditions and a long mining tradition. In fact, the very low seismic, acoustic and electromagnetic noise found in the area adjacent to the Sos Enattos mine, in Lula, made it a candidate site to host the future Einstein Telescope gravitational wave observatory. Italy is the leader of the project also signed by four other European governments and supported by a multitude of research institutes from other European countries ».

Devastating wind

On the project of the wind masters in oil sauce, positioned right above the future Einstein Telescope, the scientists write: «For the disturbances they emit into the environment, wind farms are fatal (fatal ed) for the detection of gravitational waves. Scientific publications testify to the disturbance caused by the low frequency vibrations of the supporting pylons of the rotating propellers. This noise also propagates for tens of kilometers, especially in a compact and not very dissipative rock such as the one in the subsoil of the area in question. The noise generated would seriously question a large part of the scientific programs of the Sargrav laboratory and Einstein Telescope. In this way the Sardinian site would lose a very important competitive advantage compared to other European locations that are candidates for the Einstein Telescope, without offering the same environmental advantages ».

Mourning and silence

Scientists wrote and screamed it everywhere. The alarm had been loud and clear. The leaders of Saras could not fail to know: despite everything, however, after the "momentary" mourning for the eagles of Gennargentu, they also want to deny forever the "silence", that of the "universal" future of Sardinia.
