The eighth edition of the Sant'Arte Festival, born from an idea of the famous artist Pinuccio Sciola and created by the Foundation that bears his name, ends tomorrow, Sunday 25 May. «We need a celebration like the one we celebrate for saints, the celebration of Sant'Arte», Sciola used to repeat. «The only celebration on the calendar to be celebrated every day of the year, because it is the only celebration that saves man from mental dullness». In the wake of this intuition, Pinuccio's children – Chiara, Tomaso and Maria – have created an initiative that every year attracts hundreds of visitors and enthusiasts to the Giardino Sonoro di San Sperate , where the artist had positioned his works.
The last day of the eighth edition opens with a conference of great international scope : at 4 pm at the Giardino Sonoro, an opportunity to delve into the genius of Antoni Gaudì, who struck Sciola so much that he was convinced to create a work in homage to the author of the Sagrada Familla in Barcelona. The themes most closely connected to creativity and the relationship between art and nature will be discussed by Jordi Alomar, director of the Museu de la Música in Barcelona and the Robert Gehard Centre, Pere Jordi Figuerola Rotger, curator of the Cultural Heritage of the Archbishopric of Barcelona for four decades, and the architect Angelo Ziranu, the only Italian to have worked on the construction site of the Sagrada Familla (he was responsible for the interiors and in particular co-designed the altar of the Basilica).
At 8:30 pm Sant'Arte closes with a concert by Dana Al Fardan, who presents her album “Indigo” . Contemporary composer, singer-songwriter and symphonic artist from Qatar, she draws on her rich cultural heritage driven by her love for world music. Her work is a fusion of contemporary Arabic and Western classical music. She is also known for her commitment to the children of the Gaza Strip.
"Here we celebrate Sant'Arte every day, without a specific reason or date", said Pinuccio Sciola. "The feeling of beauty has become a common conscience, to be preserved and venerated. Now it is a question of infecting the whole of Sardinia, and of making Art a sort of festivity, to be celebrated at any time ".
The Sant'Arte festival fuels this spirit by uniting all the visual and performing arts that are constantly in flux and characterize the contemporary scene . A popular festival, with shared participation, that puts Art on the street, following the provocations of international anti-academic schools, art outside of museums, galleries, theaters and books. Through the staging of multiple live shows, every year new expressive languages merge with forms of interaction between artists and spectators, who become active protagonists.
