Tomorrow in Anela , the center of the Goceano , the evocative feast of San Giorgio di Aneletto will be held, traditionally known as the “feast of the shepherds”.
Who, near the hot season, left the sunny Tirso plain to lead the flocks to about a thousand meters above sea level, in the fresh and healthy slopes of the Anela mountains.
The community therefore, on Sunday 31 July, prepares to celebrate a mountain saint worthily surrounded by many mysteries , in a place that testifies to an ultra-millennial history unknown to most. Composed of soldiers, fortresses and places of worship.
At 10 in the morning the archaeologist Maria Paola Bulla will illustrate the historical events of the site, during the meeting promoted by the organizing committee, sponsored by the Municipality and curated by the cultural association "San Giorgio di Aneletto". A rediscovery, that of the site of San Giorgio, on which the newly elected municipal administration headed by Giangiuseppe Nurra strongly points, which immediately placed the enhancement of a heritage not yet adequately brought to light at the center of its commitment.
After the mass officiated by the parish priest Don Alessio Pieraccini, a plaque will be given to the centenarian Giovanna Stara . Then at 13.30 the time of traditional lunch, prepared and offered by the organizing committee in the spaces of the former Forest Anela Dairy. The afternoon will instead be dedicated to a moment of reflection in the locality of “Traschia”, not far from the barracks of the Ente Foreste.
This year the anniversary of the Saint crosses the commemoration of the terrifying fire of 1945 , in which seven Anelesi died, engaged in the operations to extinguish the flames. An indelible mourning for the community, commemorated every year thanks to the constant commitment of the "Committee pro sos mortos in su fogu" and that of the parish of Santissimi Cosma e Damiano.
