San Gavino, two thousand visitors for Open Monuments

The Open Monuments event, organized by the Imago Mundi association with the Municipality of San Gavino Monreale, was a success. For two days the churches, museums and sites of historical and cultural interest in the town were besieged by tourists and many San Gavino residents and more than 2 thousand visitors were registered.
More than 600 people visited the church of San Gavino Martire and more than 400 visited the historic foundry, the Mereu house and the Dona Maxima house museum , where the guided tours saw the participation of the Muredda and Come.te theater companies who represented scenes of peasant life. There were also many visits to the Due Fonderie museum, for the tour of the murals with the volunteers of the 'Skizzo' association, to the churches of Santa Teresa, Santa Chiara and the wonderful embroidery house of Chiara Atzori.
The event, supported by the municipal department of culture, saw more than 20 associations, schools, local authorities and 300 volunteers in total , who, with the great work of the municipal offices, made it possible to open the doors of culture in San Gavino Monreale. The dramatizations and guided tours were also organized by the associations Curatoria Monreale, Anziani Solidali and Sa Moba Sarda.
There were several special events such as the Orchid exhibition curated by the Zonal Mycological Group in the Civis room, the collective art exhibition curated by the Alessandra Sorcinelli association, the exhibition on historical monuments curated by the Compagnia Medievale Monreale in the Casa Mereu, the exhibition of the historic 500 cars cared for by the Club of the same name, the art tour led by the Delfino association, the SAI (Reception and Integration Service), the concert of the city band of San Gavino Monreale in the Civis premises and the traveling concerts of the students of musical course organized by the Eleonora d'Arborea comprehensive institute.
