The 'Marconi-Lussu' high school in San Gavino Monreale had the honor of hosting Piera Levi-Montalcini, granddaughter of the illustrious Nobel Prize winning scientist Rita Levi-Montalcini.

After the presentation of her testimony, the fifth year students had the opportunity to interview and discuss with the doctor. Among the topics addressed are the importance of memory in current affairs and scientific progress, combined with valuable advice for our future.

For Alessandro Loi, institute representative, the day will become an indelible mark in the hearts of the students: «Piera Levi-Montalcini confirmed herself as an immense person by creating a space entirely dedicated to us students and our questions, preceded by a initial monologue in which he delicately and simply dealt with themes such as telling his family's history and sharing the value of scientific research as an unstoppable progress driven by curiosity. He encouraged us young people to live a life surrounded by goodness and happiness , lived moment by moment, giving up worries about the future because everything will come in its time."

Tommaso Locci, institute representative, was also very happy: «This day filled me with pride because it was organized by the students, and this does nothing other than give a signal on how we can be the engine of the future. The words spoken by Piera Levi-Montalcini about our future moved us and made us reflect on the pitfalls we will face on our journey. His advice was invaluable and all of us graduates were able to understand his never banal speeches."

Also present was the councilor for culture Silvia Mamusa: «We wanted to pay homage and greet Piera Levi-Montalcini to express our esteem and gratitude for the historical memory journey on the Shoah which she also shared in San Gavino Monreale. From a Jewish family, seventy-six years old, electronics engineer, president of the Levi-Montalcini association, Piera carries on the spiritual legacy of her aunt, expelled from the University of Turin following the racial laws."
