No to the sale , for any reason, of the Elmas airport . This is the position of Federalberghi Sud Sardegna expressed in the words of its president, Fausto Mura.

"In an island, talking about tourism without talking about transport is useless and harmful: transport infrastructures are essential for the survival of the tourism industry", explains Mura who adds: "Cagliari airport is the only gateway to development of South Sardinia . Passenger shipping is laughable by comparison. The relationship between South Sardinia and its airport is not comparable to any other circumstance that does not have the same characteristics of social and economic isolation. And for these characteristics it represents a unicum. That it is wrong is not an opinion: it is enough to look at the assets of the airports of our competitors in the Mediterranean islands to realize it ".

The president also stresses that Sardinia “has no airlines, no freight carriers, no flight school, no transport manager school. It is an island without sailors, without ships, without planes and without commanders . The only thing we have in the transport chain are airports, and the only publicly managed airport in Sardinia (and the most important) is Cagliari airport ".

Here is the stance: “The Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari wants to sell to a speculative fund that has the sole purpose of making a profit, the only input lever of the entire economy of Southern Sardinia. For South Sardinia, the airport is everything, while for an American fund like Blackrock for 9,500 billion dollars or for the Milanese company F2i, Cagliari airport is little or nothing. Obviously this cannot be an economic choice, given the list of profits that Sogaer SPA has collected in the last 10 years: on average 2 million euros net per year. Cagliari airport is certainly the most precious asset of the Cagliari and Oristano Chamber of Commerce and of all of Southern Sardinia. It certainly does not suit the Cciaa and above all it does not suit the Sardinians and Sardinia since other islands with airport capacities dozens of times higher than ours have chosen the opposite: the Balearics and the Canary Islands first ”. Finally, the example of Greece: “It taught us that transport infrastructures are the most attractive colonizations. After the well-known crisis since 2017, Greek airports are in the hands of German companies and ports to Chinese companies. The real shareholders of the Cagliari airport are all the members of the Cagliari and Oristano Chamber of Commerce, that is, all the members of the Cciaa and all the inhabitants of Southern Sardinia: but the successors in title were not involved ".
