Kazakh Elena Rybakina won the Australian Open, her first slam of the 2026 season.

She defeated world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. For the Moscow-born tennis player, who will become the next WTA number 3 on Monday, it's her first win in Melbourne and her second at a Grand Slam.

In 2023 she was beaten in the final in Australia by Sabalenka.
