Ryanair presents the winter offer and announces ten new routes from Lombardy: « They will only be international », specifies the company's CEO Micheal O'Leary , while the domestic offer «will be affected by the Government's stupid tariff decree» .

After Sardinia, Sicily has also ended up in the sights of the Irish low cost company : «We have reduced flights by 10% in Sardinia, this winter it will be Sicily's turn. Thanks to the decree, flights that previously had domestic destinations will have international destinations."

Today O'Leary returned to heavily attack the Government's decree against high tariffs: « It's based on rubbish data. A stupid and idiotic decree that will reduce flights by increasing fares . This winter's new routes from Orio and Malpensa will only be international."

«As we increase international routes to and from Milan this winter, Italian growth is jeopardized by the illegal government decree that limits the freedom of airlines to set lower fares », adds O'Leary, underlining that «the law European Union guarantees airlines the freedom to set the lowest or highest prices and no Italian decree can limit this regulation".

Three routes to and from Sardinia have been completely cancelled: Cagliari-Trieste, Alghero-Bari and Alghero-Treviso . However, frequencies have been reduced on seven other routes, including six essential national connections to Rome, Milan (Orio al Serio and Malpensa), Catania, Naples and Venice, as well as Brussels Charleroi.

The 2023 winter operation is reduced by 6% in Cagliari compared to that of 2022, by 16% in Alghero . It may be a coincidence but the most affected airport is Riviera del Corallo, where fears of a downsizing as a result of the merger of the airports in Northern Sardinia were gathering.

There will be two aircraft based on the island, compared to three this summer: over 200 weekly flights (-8% compared to winter 2022) and around 3.2 million passengers, 300 thousand fewer than planned before the decree .
