The Russian swimmer Evgeny Rylov, double Olympic champion in Tokyo in the 100 and 200 backstrokes, has been banned for nine months.
The decision of the international Federnuoto came because Rylov clearly spoke out in favor of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The stop, explains Fina, was decided "following his participation and behavior in an event at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow on March 18".
The pro Putin and pro invasion swimmer will not be able to participate in all competitions and activities organized by Fina, including international competitions.
Fina also confirmed his decision to cancel his events in Russia and not let the Russian and Belarusian teams participate in the 20220 World Cup which will be held in Budapest.
