Lorenzo Musetti retired at the beginning of the fourth set in the semifinal at Roland Garros, with the score at 4-6 7-6(3) 6-0 2-0. Carlos Alcaraz is the first finalist of the Paris tournament: he will face the winner of the challenge between Jannik Sinner and Novak Djoković on Sunday, scheduled for no earlier than 7 pm this evening.

Musetti had also started well, with a convincing 6-4 in the first set . The second lasted just over an hour and saw the Spaniard prevail 7-6(3). In the third set the problems with his left thigh began for the Italian, who lost 6-0 in great physical difficulty.

Between the third and fourth set Musetti calls a medical time out. The game resumes, but in the second game the Italian raises the white flag and the semifinal ends early . Alcaraz will try to defend the title he won last year in Paris.

"Winning like this is not pleasant," Alcaraz said at the end of the match, with much praise for his opponent. "Musetti had a fantastic clay season, one of the few in the last 30 years to have reached the semifinals in all the important tournaments. I wish him the best and that he can come back as quickly as possible and start playing again ."
