Annamaria De Blasi, Eleonora Esu, Sara Locci and Laura Palazzari recounted their experience in Auschwitz by inviting their peers, and others, to experience the same path. The 4 girls from Carbonia adhering to the "Auschwitz Remembrance" project, promoted by Arci, from 9 to 14 March together with other thousands of girls and boys from all over Italy, embarked on a journey to the city of Krakow with a visit to the camps concentration camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau, the Ghetto and Schindler's Factory, after a training course carried out before the journey which lasted almost a month.

Upon their return, the girls and boys continued to meet to prepare the restitutions to their communities. The experience was made possible not only by the promotion of Arci Sardegna, but also through the commitment of all the clubs including "The fortunate seagull" of Carbonia, by the economic investment of the Municipality. The councilor for culture Giorgia Meli, after recalling that for the Administration joining the project represents "an important bet" invested the participants with a great civic responsibility: "you are the bearers of this memory that must never be erased. The baton passes into your hands to ensure that these tragedies do not repeat themselves".

Immediately afterwards the girls (accompanied by Mara Portas, one of the tutors who in the past was a participant and who wanted to put themselves at the service of the new members of the project) presented an audio-video work divided into two parts: in the first the testimonies of the protagonists of the concentration camps of yesterday and today (see Gaza, Chechnya, the small boats that transport migrants towards a future of hope and much more), in the second the emotions experienced in those unforgettable 6 days were reported. Soon after it was the turn of direct testimonies. Laura returned from this experience “with an open mind and a rich heart. We have learned that nothing is taken for granted but everything is precious”.

Sara confessed “I'm actually still processing what I experienced. I saw the core of man's brutality but this was balanced by the great unity that was created between us. Everyone can and must do something”. For Eleonora “it was a great opportunity for personal growth. Getting to know a piece of history up close that cannot be forgotten is an experience that marks you and makes you return home differently”. For Annamaria “it was a journey through emotions, lived with a great sense of family among all of us. Even today it is difficult to explain how much we have lived”.

Furthermore, all of them wanted to thank the municipal administration, the Arci and all the tutors and companions.
