Tension is rising on the topic of energy, from renewables to the Thyrrenian Link, in the electoral campaign for the regional elections in Sardinia.

Alessandra Todde, candidate of the broad camp led by the Pd and M5s, does not allow "fake news" and says she no longer tolerates "attacks bordering on threats". Thus she announces defamation complaints against those who "for weeks have been conducting a denigratory campaign in towards me, spreading false information about me", writes the deputy in a post on social media.

Accusations and "false information" that were unleashed on social media after public positions taken by his opponents, Renato Soru, in particular, and Paolo Truzzu in the centre-right camp. The candidate wants to clarify things after first the owner of Tiscali, then the mayor of Cagliari accused her and her party of having been "promoter and creator of the Draghi Prime Ministerial Decree which contains the simplification of authorization procedures" on the requests for renewable energy plants on the island and to "promote the construction of the Sardinia-Sicily submarine cable", highlighted Soru during a public debate.

From here to the accusation of commentators of "having personal interests on the topic of renewables" it was a short step.

«Defamation is the weapon of those who have no arguments, as well as being a crime», she replies and specifies: «During my presence in the two Conte II and Draghi governments, there was no increase in the renewables ceiling in Sardinia", he writes, "in 2023, the current Minister of the Environment Pichetto Fratin (Meloni government) decided to increase the ceiling of installable power in Sardinia by 12 times, raising it to 6 GW to be achieved by 2030". As for the Thyrrenian Link, «it serves to complete the ring of national electricity connections, strengthen Sardinian electricity security and make the phase out of coal power plants possible».

But, Todde clarifies, "the requests of the territories in which it will arrive are correct because Terna's arrogance is not admissible".
