The regional price list for public works , which the Region of Sardinia is about to publish, is completely "inadequate" to the increases in the costs of raw materials and risks causing the closure of various businesses on the island.

The alarm was sounded by Maria Amelia Lai, President of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna, and Giacomo Meloni, Regional President of the building trades .

«Updating the value of the works – they explain – appears to be completely incongruous with the trend of the economy, which is already leading to construction site closures, deserted tenders and contract terminations. According to our information, after the revision of the material costs there would be numerous "minus signs", i.e. declining variations . We are very concerned about the micro, small and medium enterprises of Sardinia».

The price list includes the updated price of 10,000 public works and is drawn up on the basis of the surveys provided by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. Obviously it is essential for companies in the sector so that they can obtain a fair remuneration for the work performed.
The cost of materials, observe the companies, in recent months has caused the price of steel to rise by 150%, that of polyethylenes by 110%, that of copper by 28.9% and that of oil by 45.3% : at these costs "it is no longer sustainable to carry out public works designed according to the prices in force in the past months, now off the market".

And in the regional price list there are " many incongruous downward entries, with the ever upward trend of semi-finished products ".
«We trust in a rebalancing of costs that takes into account the difficulties we are facing due to the inflation triggered by the recovery, by building bonuses and then by the war - continue Lai and Meloni - and we would not like to find ourselves an inapplicable and inappropriate tool because, with its rebates, it would mortify small businesses above all by effectively putting them out of the market . We also need a change in price detection: the current method is totally inadequate for a real revaluation of the cost of materials».
