The race against time to approve the €800 million budget adjustment before the August break begins today. The budget adjustment, which will have a manageable budget of approximately €300 million, is on the agenda of the Council, which will meet after the Council's session, around 2:00 PM.

Budget Councillor Giuseppe Meloni explains: "It was important to approve the financial statement by April 30th, so the Court of Auditors approved it on July 11th. Today, the first day we can use the administrative surplus, we're going to the Council to approve the adjustment, which will then go to the committee and back to the Chamber after being reviewed by the auditors." In short, " it will be a race against time to get the green light before the summer break, so we can then focus on the 2026-2028 Budget ."

The budget amounted to €800 million, including the previous year's administrative surplus and some resources in terms of increased revenue. Obviously, " the law provides for the allocation of resources for off-budget debts , and we could then use the free surplus for all emergencies arising in 2025."

The maneuver will also be one of the items on the agenda of the majority summit called for today by President Alessandra Todde to discuss the possible postponement of the second-level provincial elections (which the governor is required to schedule for September by July), which are expected to be held around 12:30 p.m.
