Refractive surgery is the surgical branch that deals with the elimination of refractive defects such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. In most cases this is achieved with very sophisticated LASERS, such as the EXCIMER LASER alone or combined with the FEMTOLASER.

An appreciated surgery, practiced for many years, capable today, with updates and increasingly advanced techniques, of giving the patient the elimination of the defect permanently and very quickly.

However, if we consider laser interventions dating back to fifteen or twenty years ago, we see that sometimes the techniques of that time may have left residual defects. Often they are not very relevant, but they prevent you from being free from glasses or contact lenses.

Specifically, these are treatments carried out with techniques that are very different from those in use today. Above all, these are short-sightednesses and astigmatisms that are not corrected in their entirety, with laser surgery interventions that were in their infancy twenty years ago and therefore less effective.

It is often thought that these defects, of various types, cannot also be eliminated. And we resign ourselves to a truly annoying condition.

Instead it must be said that today many of these residues can be eliminated effectively and safely. Lasers have evolved greatly and so have diagnostic equipment which allows for very in-depth, safe and non-invasive pre-operative assessments.

Once the residual defect has been ascertained in terms of quantity and type, the intervention can be planned with various different and innovative techniques as well as extremely effective, depending on the case.
For example, like the TRANS PRK technique, which represents the evolution of the old PRK and which allows the EXCIMER LASER to perform the entire operation without the surgeon ever touching the corneal surface. A NO TOUCH intervention that allows you to obtain a perfect surface, ready for rapid healing. In myopia the central area will be flattened without manually removing the most superficial layer, the epithelium, this will be done by the laser. The side effects are modest and the results are excellent.

Another proposed technique is retouching with the LASIK technique, ideal for faster recovery if the thickness of the cornea allows it. It is the most used technique in the world.
This treatment creates a thin lamella of a few thousandths of a millimetre, upon lifting which the laser carries out the programmed treatment, which lasts a few seconds. Then the lamella is lowered and visual recovery is immediate and painless. In a few days you are ready to resume normal life.

Let's not be satisfied with a result that has become modest over time, after a careful evaluation we will see that it can most likely be eliminated too. You will be able to see clearly again in just a few minutes of operation and without pain.
