Cagliari is last in the standings alone, thanks to the 1-3 defeat against Milan and the simultaneous first success of Empoli against Salernitana (1-0).
Claudio Ranieri, however, has praise for his team for how they stood up to the Rossoneri: «Milan have great champions, as demonstrated by Loftus-Cheek's goal which however has nothing to do with the match, which we did from the first time. I complimented the boys, saying I was proud: the team responded in every way in the first and second half. We're not doing well but we have to be even more determined and incisive: let's not give up. It's a shame for the mistake that led to the 1-1 restart."
Alarm reset. He had worried Zito Luvumbo, author of the momentary 1-0, when he collapsed to the ground in the 89th minute after a dribble. «Just a cramp», reassures Ranieri. "He still carries the ball a little too much, he's stubborn but he's a diamond in the rough." The Angolan has scored Cagliari's only two league goals to date (the other in Bologna), which however have not brought any points. «The problem with the goal is given by the fact that I don't even have all the attackers, even if I don't want to find an alibi I will only have Lapadula in a month and he was the top scorer in the last Serie B», adds the coach.
However, Ranieri only has nice words for his team: " But today the boys gave everything and felt a sense of belonging to this island, which is what I and the Sardinian fans like." With one regret: «We scored goals and created situations where we scared Milan. Had we not taken the 1-1 draw we were in control."
