Berchidda, Bosa, Escolca, Genuri, Giba, Ilbono, Ittiri, Masainas, Nuxis, Riola Sardo, Samatzai, Santadi, Seneghe, Serrenti, Siddi, Sini, Sorso, Uri, Usini, Ussaramanna, Vallermosa and Villacidro are the twenty-two villages of Sardinia who on Sunday will be involved in the " Walk among the olive trees ", the event organized by the City of Oil Association.

“Sardinian oil has reached high levels of quality, conquering ever larger market shares and making itself appreciated by consumers and experts. The purely economic value of this dynamic sector, well represented by products of absolute excellence, is associated with others of vital importance for the agricultural system as a whole and in general for maintaining environmental balance. This initiative represents the best synthesis of this approach, linked to sustainability, respect for naturalistic riches, the fight against the depopulation of inland areas - declared the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Gabriella Murgia -. The Walk among the olive trees wants to draw attention precisely to issues that cannot be disconnected from the activities of the political and economic world, because our future and that of our generations depend on them. This event has an important not only symbolic meaning, because olive growing, with its millenary tradition, is today also in Sardinia one of the forms of production that most protect the environment and it is the task of good policy to encourage them, as they are oriented towards respect. of the biodiversity of the territories ".

This year, in all these cities, the flash mob #abbracciaunolivo will be held during the Walk to raise awareness among the population on environmental protection and on combating the abandonment of olive groves, through the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the return to traditional and social olive growing. Participants will hold hands and create human circles and circles around the olive trees.
