The summer of Joe, Liz and Richard ”, the new documentary written and directed by Sergio Naitza from Nuoro and shot in Alghero - Capo Caccia, makes its world premiere on Monday 17 October at the Rome Film Festival.

A film with shooting at various latitudes of the world - London, Paris, Baltimore, Los Angeles - which has its roots in Hollywood glamor but with an “investigative” verve, as if it were the investigation into a cold case in the history of world cinema.

Produced by Karel and supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Region of Sardinia, the Sardegna Film Commission Foundation, the Foundation of Sardinia, the Alghero Foundation and the Società Umanitaria-Cineteca Sarda.

The documentary reconstructs one of the most historic flops in the history of cinema, that of the film "The cliff of desires" , in the original "Boom!", A production shot in August 1967 in an unspoiled corner of Sardinia, on the cliffs of Capo Hunting near Alghero. film starring Liz Taylor and Richard Burton, directed by director Joseph Losey.

"There were the costumes of a very young Karl Lagerfeld - recalls Naitza -, the Bulgari jewels sparkled at the neck of a Liz Taylor of rare intensity. But the film, like an adventurous Titanic, a few months later, in May '68, in a world in which the wind was changing, ended up shattering on the iceberg of the box office, a sensational and completely unexpected flop . Forty years later, discovering on the net a passionate movement of thought and groups of very active fans still linked to that film, we I retraced the traces of the set and tried to understand who had 'murdered' him at his debut. And why Boom! has finally survived to us as a cult film ".

In the documentary there are also the memoirs of the actress Joanna Shimkus, wife of Sidney Poitier and the only survivor of the cast, of the international photographer Gianni Bozzacchi, of Patricia Losey, wife of the director, of the film historian Michel Ciment, of the jeweler Gianni Bulgari, of the Anglo-Indian musician Viram Jasani and production manager Valerio De Paolis.

The red thread is the group of foreign tourists led by Giulia Naitza from Cagliari who has the role of guide in charge of bringing the group to the discovery of Capo Caccia. There is also a large group of people from Alghero with different tasks, messengers, runners, electricians, assistants.

And they speak Pinuccio Baldino, Franco Bernardi, Salvatore Sotgiu, Tonino Loi, Giovanni Burruni, Giovanni Dongu, Gian Michele Oliva.
