The new Superman from the American comic book publisher DC Comics "will be bisexual".

This is what the publishing giant announced during the National Coming Out Day, the annual day of awareness on LGBT rights in the United States.

The protagonist of the new comic series, explained writer Tom Taylor, will still be Jon Kent - son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane - and in the next issue, due out in November, he will be depicted in a homosexual relationship with his friend Jay Nakamura. .

“When I was offered the job for the first time - Taylor said - I thought it would be a missed opportunity if we replaced Clark Kent with another classic straight white savior.” And to his surprise, he added, first that he could propose the idea that Jon was bisexual, DC Comics had let him know that this aspect of the protagonist's private life was already being evaluated.

"Five years ago it would have been more difficult, but I think things have changed in a really positive way," added Taylor, explaining that he is not worried about the protests of some fans that have risen on social networks. "There will always be people who will use the usual argument of not putting politics in comics, forgetting that every single story has always been political in some way," he concluded.
