"Lack of liquidity", the State cuts funds to the Municipalities. Todde: "We will rebel"
Transfer cuts announced, the regional president: «Essential services are being hit»Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
The alarm was raised yesterday by Democratic MP Silvio Lai: "In the next few days I will present an urgent parliamentary question to verify whether what is emerging in these hours is true, that is, the possible revocation of funding from the 2021–2027 Development and Cohesion Fund to Municipalities for interventions already tendered but not yet contracted. If confirmed, this would be a very serious matter, which risks compromising public works that are fundamental for local communities".
And the news was relaunched by the president of the region, Alessandra Todde: «The Ministry of the Interior has communicated the impossibility of paying the balance of the first installment of the Municipal Solidarity Fund for the year 2025. A decision that affects the Municipalities and that is justified with a very serious reason: “lack of liquidity” in the state coffers» , the president says.
The municipalities, the governor emphasizes, "are the first institutions called to give concrete answers to people's needs. Blocking the transfer of funds means stopping schools, roads, social services, school canteens. It means hitting the daily life of citizens, especially in the most fragile areas".
If the Government has cash flow difficulties, "it should say so clearly and change spending priorities. But it should not unload the burden of uncertain and opaque management of public resources onto local authorities. Immediate clarity is needed," Todde adds, "and respect is needed for those who, every day, with limited resources, hold together essential services, social cohesion and development in the territories. We will stand by the Municipalities and support them with every available means. However, it is not acceptable to unload these expenses only onto the Region. We will rebel against this umpteenth injustice."
