After the preview on Billboard, the video clip of “January”, the pop ballad by the Sardinian singer-songwriter Marchi, is available on YouTube. The video is set in the 1930s in the snow-capped mountains of Val di Mello and features Antonio and Pietro, two friends who intimately experience the discovery of their love.
For the singer-songwriter - born in Sardinia in 1988 and twice finalist for the De André Award, in 2010 and 2013 - and the director, the inspiration for the video clip originated from the discovery of a series of vintage photos depicting couples in love. homosexuals of the late 1800s and early 1900s.

"Having a photo taken - explains Marchi, aka Michele Marchi - in those days it must have already been a special event in itself, almost official in a certain sense: we combed our hair, wore the right dress for occasions, went to the studio of the photographer and we posed. There is a certain epicity in those portrayed looks, of poetry. Let alone a couple of homosexual girls or boys forced to love each other secretly and who wished to have a simple memory like everyone else. Someone will have had to challenge himself and his shyness in order to make his partner happy by making himself retract hand in hand or with his legs intertwined. Someone else braver instead will have been proud to be photographed while kissing his girlfriend. Here, these photos of the past made me take a journey through time and also reminded me that even if we have come a little bit of a road since then, in the present we still continue to be very far from a healthy concept of equality and freedom".

"January" by Marchi is produced by Marchi, Alexander Woodbury (Street Clerks) and Andrea Cola (Sunday Morning) at the StoneBridge Studio in Cesena. The video clip is directed by Giovanni Iavarone and is produced by Francesco De Giorgi for Nostos Production. The cast is composed of Michele Piccolo, Pietro Gambacorta and Marchi Filming took place between Lombardy (Sondrio) and Lazio (Rome, at the Agostinelli Museum).
