"Russia is ready to host Euro 2032 instead of Italy." This provocative announcement was made by the president of the Moscow Football Union, Alexander Dyukov , in an interview with the Russian website Sport.ru.

Asked what might happen if Italy lost the right to host the tournament "due to the stadium problem," Dyukov replied by confirming Moscow's "full willingness" to take over.

"UEFA," the Russian website claims, " has approved only one of the 10 proposed venues ( Cagliari, with the construction of its new stadium, also aims to be in the running —ed.), while the entire tournament could be awarded to Turkey, co-host of the competition with Italy ," should Italy fail to provide stadiums compliant with the required standards. Hence the provocative takeover proposal put forward by the head of the Russian Football Federation.
