"Dear Union,

I am writing to you from Iglesias. On Monday 25 October we lived a nightmare: our dog suddenly felt ill, and after being examined we were told that she would need a neurological examination, which they fixed us in Assemini for the following day.

Unfortunately, the night between Monday and Tuesday was very bad: at 2.05 in the morning we tried to contact the veterinary clinic of Cagliari open 24 hours a day, but the number indicated on the internet was inactive. Thus we endured the suffering of our dog until the visit to Assemini, where she arrived at the end of her life, and died of viral meningitis. This has destroyed us, not only for the diagnosis, but above all because we find it inconceivable that in Iglesias and its surroundings there is no veterinarian who is available at night.

It is not the first time that animals get sick on weekends or after the clinic closes, and unfortunately many die because there is no emergency room for them in all of Sulcis. Those who have no veterinary friends must resign themselves to losing their beloved animal. Is it possible then that only two clinics in Cagliari have to shoulder the burden of such a vast catchment area? To whom could we make our voice and cry for help heard? We are experiencing a great mourning, we believe not due to our negligence but to an unacceptable situation.

Thanks".
