Imagine a city where streets and parks are not just places of passage, but spaces for sharing and growth. This is the vision that will animate Quartucciu in the coming days, which also this year will join the Sustainable Mobility Week, from 16 to 22 September , with a series of initiatives that aim to rewrite the way of experiencing urban space.
Sharing public space is the central theme , but behind these words lies a much more ambitious project: making the city safer, more liveable and accessible for everyone, starting with the little ones.
The first appointment will be held tomorrow, September 18, with the Pedibus initiative, designed to offer the students of the Ermanno Cortis institute an experience of active mobility, walking in groups to their schools , under the supervision of the traffic police and parents. The children of the schools of via Guspini, via Verdi and via Piria will meet in front of the municipal library in the Sergio Atzeni Park and from there they will walk through the streets of the city to their respective buildings.
But it's not just about road safety education. On September 19 and 20, the library will host two projects of great importance for the future of the city: the Axis of Culture and the Linear Park of Rio Is Cungiaus, which aim to create new green spaces and cycle and pedestrian paths, transforming the urban face of the town. A laboratory of ideas that will involve especially the little ones, thanks to a road safety education course, where they can learn by playing. Each child will wear a fluorescent "aspiring traffic warden" jacket and will be guided by special animators on an educational journey through games and safety rules.
The highlight of the week will be the September 19th bike ride , an initiative that symbolizes the union between Quartucciu and Quartu Sant'Elena. The citizens of both municipalities will gather in two ecological parades, made of bicycles and scooters, to meet in the symbolic place of the future redevelopment of Fornaci Picci, along a route that will culminate at the Molentargius Park. Here, a practical demonstration of bicycle maintenance will celebrate the most ecological means of transport in the world.
