Quartu, the comprehensive school 2 dedicated to Maria Lai

The Istituto comprensivo 2 of Quartu Sant'Elena was named after Maria Lai , a delicate and refined artist.

The kindergarten in via Milano hosted the naming ceremony in the presence of the municipal authorities, from the mayor Graziano Milia to the president of the council Rita Murgioni, with the councilor for public education Cinzia Carta and the teachers of the various schools of the comprehensive institute .

There were also Greca Piras, the former head teacher who had started the process and Maria Lai's niece Maria Sofia Pisu, 77 , who moved, said: «It's wonderful that the kids get to know this artist , a woman who felt the duty to speak through art. He was a special person who combined culture and sensitivity ».

Since last year, numerous workshops on the artist and his works have been set up in the classrooms, but also in the courtyards of via Milano, via Firenze, via Regina Margherita and via Tiziano. These include the ingenious representation of the Game of the Goose and the mural created with the boys and girls outside the school which takes up the trend of the blackboards and which is also present with variations in the other complexes of the Institute.
