Quartomoro di Sardegna, the winery founded 12 years ago by Piero Cella and Luciana Baso, now supported by their children Alberto and Violante, opens its Historical Archive of native vines.

The company, born from the founders' dream of recovering the island's native vines by selecting its most representative vineyards in the most suitable territories, thus adds a new element to its Memorie di Vite project.

The Archive will be presented on 17 March starting at 10 in the cellar located in Marrubiu, in the Is Bangius area, and from then on it will be accessible to everyone.

The Autochthonous Vineyards Archive is a new project characterized by the winery's desire to understand whether the traditional and native white and red varieties can support aging and maturation worthy of giving emotions. Generally the Sardinian vines transformed into wine have not been subjected to this type of test, but there are many surprises: Vermentino, for example, after 10 years still shows freshness and lively citrus olfactory sensations, and a differently biting spiciness. Bovale from sand vineyards, explains the company, offers characteristic textures of long aging vines, and, typical of an area near the sea, transfers balsamic and iodized notes and a soft and fresh tannic structure at the same time.

«For us, Quartomoro was also a cultural project, and for this reason, being able to transform the archive into an open place where we can study and understand our vines makes us particularly proud», comments Luciana Cella.

«There is great curiosity about our native vines, I think opening up the perspective of longevity is truly stimulating», explains Alberto instead.

Quartomoro, a company with a surface area of 12.5 hectares, cultivates various varieties: Vermentino, Vernaccia, Nuragus, Semidano, Arvisionadu, Nasco, Cannonau, Bovale, Muristellu, Carignano, Cagnulari, Monica.
