«The meeting at the ministry with Glencore top management has been suspended. Well, the crisis table is still open, but is the Government's proposal really a 20% tax credit for three months and part of a 2 million fund?». Pd deputy Silvio Lai asks on social media, providing updates on the summit with the Ministry of Enterprise on the future of Portovesme srl and its workers.

It is, therefore, but still no breakthrough. As Governor Christian Solinas explains in a note: "We await the outcome of a confrontation with great apprehension and confidence which for us can have only one outcome: the maintenance of activities and all levels of employment until the start of a process of industrial reconversion of which we await to know the project, and for which we can only confirm our support in the presence of solid guarantees".
«From Glencore - adds Solinas, who confirms that she is in "constant contact" with the undersecretary of Mimit Fausta Bergamotto - we await clear and precise words on its projects, as a guarantee for the workers but also for a vital industrial center for the Sulcis and strategic for Sardinia and for Italy».
The Sardinian governor reiterates: «We believe that the measures in place, and recently confirmed, relating to the reduction of energy costs are an effective guarantee for the restart and maintenance of activities in Portovesme and San Gavino. The confirmation of the tax credit for the coming months as well and the 2 million fund for energy-intensive companies in the island territories are a solid basis, accepted by other energy-intensive industrial realities throughout Italy".
"Together with the workers in struggle - concludes Solinas - I therefore await to know the real intentions of the multinational, confirming the full, total willingness of the Region to do its part and, above all, the firm intention to always take the side of the workers, whatever the outcome of the dispute, to protect their future".
