The RSU of Portovesme Srl of San Gavino disbands the permanent assembly proclaimed on 24 March. These have been "intense and difficult" days for the workers who have seen the agreement between the government and Glencore fade away : "Despite the strong and constant commitment of our battle, we do not consider this as a victory as our main objective was and remains the safeguarding of the production site of the historic foundry of San Gavino Monreale and the maintenance of all jobs - explains the RSU in a note - we do not even consider it a defeat, as all of us united (direct, temporary and contract companies) we did everything that was within our physical, economic and mental possibilities, managing to give a big voice to a small but consolidated reality and attracting media and political attention at a national level also for a future - add the company unions - Future that will see us engaged with further initiatives to demonstrate and defend our dignity and our right to work, with the commitment and promise that this is not a surrender but an expectation of further positive developments in the next meetings aimed at resolving the dispute". .

The general meeting of the workers of Portovesme Srl has been convened for Tuesday 11 at 8, on the eve of the new meeting in Rome between the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Glencore and the trade unions.

The trade union coordination of CGIL, CISL and UIL also reiterated the request to restart the plants currently stopped and the re-employment of the entire workforce. «Responsibilities lie equally with the government, the Region and the company - it is underlined - For this reason it is requested that the main topic of the table be the guarantee of the running plants. Only then will we confirm our willingness to face the industrial transition process, which will have the restart of the production plants and the re-employment of the entire workforce as a negotiation constraint. On these topics, until today, rigid positions of the parties involved remain where, on the one hand, they see the company not acknowledging that the conditions of the energy markets are not those pre-pandemic and by the Government not acknowledging the particularities of an industrial plant that has technical operating times that are not compatible with three-month prospects, such as those defined by the decrees».

«The statements of the parties involved on the strategic importance of the production of zinc and lead for Sardinia - Italy, up to now have not been consequential in fact - the unions are pressing - We think that, for such productions, solutions must be found, so that they can have continuity production in our country. It is therefore necessary, today more than ever, that the discussion tables launched clearly explain the real will of the government, the Region and the property, regarding the future of production and employment".
