New meeting today at Mimit (Ministry of Companies and Made in Italy) between the undersecretary Fausta Bergamotto and the representatives of Glencore . At the center of the meeting was the energy issue relating to the future of the two metallurgical plants that Glencore, through its subsidiary Portovesme srl , has in Sardinia .

Among the requests presented by the Swiss group are the structural measures to ensure the restart of the lead line and the suspension of social shock absorbers for at least two years .

The president of the Region, Christian Solinas , let it be known that he is in " constant contact with the undersecretary of Mimit Fausta Bergamotto " to follow the developments of the dispute.

"We await with great apprehension and confidence the outcome of a confrontation that for us can have only one outcome - Solinas says -: the maintenance of activities and all levels of employment until the start of an industrial reconversion process of which we look forward to learning about the project, and for which we can only confirm our support in the presence of solid guarantees".

"From Glencore we await clear and precise words on their projects , as a guarantee for the workers but also for a vital industrial center for the Sulcis and strategic for Sardinia and for Italy", says the president of the Region. "We believe that the measures in place, and recently confirmed, relating to the reduction of energy costs are an effective guarantee for the restart and maintenance of activities in Portovesme and San Gavino".
He then adds: "The confirmation of the tax credit for the next few months and the 2 million fund for energy-intensive companies in the island territories are a solid basis, accepted by other energy-intensive industrial realities throughout Italy".
