Investigations in the basilica of San Gavino by the Université libre of Brussels. The Belgian researchers including Sébastien Clerbois, director of the CReA-Patrimoine - Center de Recherches en Archéologie et Patrimoine-, together with his collaborators, with the help of the officials of the archaeological superintendency and the president of the San Gavino Basilica Study Center, Giuseppe Piras, have carried out some instrumental analyzes aimed at detecting whether among the architectural elements used for the construction of the Romanesque church there may also be materials from the Corsican quarry. Scientific studies also involving the archaeological area of Turris Libisonis, one of the largest in Sardinia.

The research, in fact, involves all the territories of the Roman Empire included in a detailed program of the Belgian team which identifies the site of the Baths of Caracalla in Rome as the next stop.

The millenary basilica, dating back to the 11th century, is a majestic monument symbol of the city, whose finds that emerged from the excavations are kept in the museum of the Antiquarium Turritano. The church, the largest in Romanesque style in Sardinia, has for some time been seriously critical due to the deterioration of the external walls and decorative elements, a structural deterioration that requires immediate recovery.
